During the four years of their operation, until April 1945, tens of thousands of people were imprisoned there, most of them civilians. The vast majority of them would not come out of the camps alive. In terms of the area it covered, the number of prisoners it held, and the number of people who were murdered there, the biggest camp in the territory controlled by the NDH<\/em> was the one in Jasenovac.<\/p>\n
