BLEIBURG

The events of May 1945 concerning Bleiburg are still subject to much debate. Some view this episode as the moment when the Croat people experienced its most brutal suffering, in what was the darkest chapter of its history. Others see it as an excessive use of force in the vengeful onslaught of the victorious side, which was a common occurrence in liberated Europe during those days of 1945.
